Kids ride in sporty style through the better half of their childhood with this Eddie Bauer-endorsed car seat covered in casual and rugged fabrics. Designed for long-term use, this convertible seat starts babies out rear-facing when they weigh between 5 and 35 pounds and then becomes a forward-facing car seat for 20- to 40-pound toddlers. The seat even extends through the grade school years, transitioning into a belt-positioning booster for kids between 30 and 100 pounds. To accommodate your child through these many growth spurts, the car seat has many adjustable features, such as a back that reclines to three positions, a three-position crotch strap buckle, and a headrest with four possible heights. Adjustments are easy to make: the seat reclines with one hand, alternations to the harness may be done from the front of the seat, and the headrest is also positioned with a harness to avoid the hassle of having to rethread straps. For safety, the 3-in-1 car seat belts younger children in with a five-point harness and is equipped with LATCH for car travel and approved for aircraft travel in the forward-facing position. For comfort, the seat has an extra-wide base to accommodate bigger kids, plush padding on the seat and infant head support, and padded, fabric-covered, fold-up armrests. The Lakemont pattern features navy fabric accented with an outdoorsy light blue plaid. --Cristina Vaamonde

out of 5 stars Love it, January 18, 2006

My daughter got this seat as a christmas gift! My mother found it at BJ and only paid $89.00. I love it,its big enough for my 8 months old but still is comfortable and big enough so she can grow in it. I have a small car and could use it as a rear facing seat but we dont! I will say it is a hard seat to set up as rear facing so I would recomend to use it only in front facing! unless u have the time and patience to mess around with it! Also Bj's,Sams, and Cosco do sell infant gear at a better price and are name brands.

out of 5 stars questionable safety, January 10, 2006

I just bought the carseat today, and after an hour of struggling to install it safely so there is minimal movement, I gave up. I tried both the latch system and the car seatbelt and couldn't find a way of securing it. Also, in rear facing position the recline handle becomes hard to reach. I am going to return it for another brand.

out of 5 stars Don't be fooled--GREAT car seat!!, January 7, 2006

I have never written a review here, but I hate to see a great product look bad because a few people can't use it!! I have this modle for my 4 month old, and the older brown model for my two year old. I love them both! And so do my sons! Although the size is large in the rear facing position, they are only going to be in that position for a few months. I have an Expedition and I have both of these seats in the second row. Although the passenger seat can not be put all the way back and reclined all the way down, my 6'8" husband can sit there comfortably. In the directions, it says that if you have narrow or shorter seats you can remove the base to get a better fit. And Latch can still be used. As far as not getting a tight fit with a seat belt, the 3-in-1 comes with an extra metal seatbelt tightener attached at the back of the seat (it gets removed to use it). I could never expect that I could tighten and hold the seatbelt enough while trying to buckle it, so this device "holds" the seatbelt in place while being buckled and provides the leverage needed to tighten it as much as possible. I will not have to buy multiple carseats as my boys grow to accomidate foro their size. This one does it all. It is a great product and as of yet (almost three years)I have no complaints! All the little things like tangled straps ect have happen with every seat I own, a Safety First (in husbands car) and with the Graco snugride carriers. So on the occasion that this one tangles it is no different.

out of 5 stars PRETTY BUT ANNOYING, November 17, 2005

Reviewer:   Dominic's mommy (New Jersey)

We have many Eddie Bauer products so we decided to buy this car seat since we were happy with their other products. This car seat is very nice looking BUT unfortunately I've had nothing but PROBLEMS with this car seat. It started from when I tried taking off the material to wash it. FORGET IT!! It was too hard, it wasn't worth it. Then, trying to remove the infant head rest - I wanted to THROW this thing out the window! Finally, I installed it (a little hard to tighten) and it looked so straight up, but I decided to try it anyway. My 7 month old still needs to be rear faced so I reclined the seat as far as it could go. Still too straight up when I put my son in. He looked so uncomfortable which really bothered me. Anyway, as we were driving my son fell asleep, as he almost always does in the car, and his head and neck were completely forward! He was being choked by the seatbelt and it woke him up as we turned a corner. I was SO DISAPPOINTED. I gave this carseat so many chances, but when my son was getting choked, that did it. For this much money this car seat should not only be user friendly, it should be comfortable!
I am going to return this and look for something LESS ANNOYING.
