Editorial Review
Combining outstanding safety features with a comfortable ride is no easy task in designing a car seat. Adding style to that mix is more difficult still. Happily, the Roundabout puts all those elements together to create what could be the perfect seat for kids up to 40 pounds. It's equipped with a 5-point harness and while it can be easily installed in any back seat, it is also outfitted for use with the LATCH system of car seat anchorage. As for comfort, picture a car seat combined with a teddy bear and you'll have a pretty good idea what the Roundabout feels like. Soft denim padded fabric and straps that hold firmly while being gentle on the child. We were also impressed with the seat's versatility. It adapts to different sized kids, the restraints snapped into place easily and the unit was simple to install and move. Another nice touch was the highly detailed instruction book, which clearly shows how to install the seat forward, backward, or even in airline seats. --John Moe

out of 5 stars but also check out the britax marathon, November 9, 2003

My son who is now three outgrew his infant seat at 3 months. This did not come with latch three years ago, but is absolutely fantastic. I used with the top tether always in my lexus truck, and used it rear facing until he was a year old. It never budged once installed, and now I am buying a britax husky to take him to 80 lbs. In retrospect, had it been available then, I would have picked the marathon which goes to 65 lbs, and I could have just switched to a lightweight booster at that point. It is still really nice to have a small, light, and portable infant car seat for the first few months, when you don't want to disturb baby every time you pop her in and out of the car. So you might want to buy the marathon when baby is 6 months or heavy enough you won't be carrying around a car seat with baby strapped in it :-) And depending on the state you live in, the marathon might be the last car seat you ever buy.

And Britax makes the absolute best car seats you can buy -- my son has always been comfortable, and he always loved the britax galaxy infant seat over the evenflo i had for my husbands car.
He has been doing great in the roundabout the last three years too.

To make one more comparison, the Husky which goes 22 to 80 lbs is really only for an over 1 year old since it does not install rear facing. It is also an enormous and heavy seat which works fine in my truck, but seems a bit big for the Audi A4. So I would still choose the Marathon over the Husky if we were to have another child since it is sized similar to the Roundabout yet takes you to 65 lbs. If you don't have latch, absolutely choose Britax, since it is the safest seat out there and installs just as firm with the top tether as any seat with latch does!

out of 5 stars Optimum safety, comfortable, convenient, no strap twists..., February 13, 2004

My 32-lb, 2 1/2 year old son has been using this car seat since we bought it to replace his maxed-out infant bucket-seat when he was under 1 year. At the time, I researched all the available seats, read reviews and did live demos of multiple seats in the stores and decided that the Britax was, hands-down, the safest, most effective, most comfortable one on the market. Travelling and at home, we have used this in virtually every kind of car you could imagine(from my original tiny sports car, to small, mid and luxury sedans, minivans, SUVs, etc), and it has installed quickly, with a consistently snug fit that assures me my son is always safe. This has been equally true on airplanes -- a reassurance that makes for one less thing to worry about when traveling with an infant or toddler (we toss the carseat onto my son's stroller to get it to the gate easily, then fold the stroller and check it at the gate - which has made it easy for me to travel with my son & all his stuff, even alone). Two other parent-friends of ours have the same seat and have been equally-thrilled with it; the parents who have other seats I've noticed have frequently twisted straps (some that refuse to ever untwist), difficult or complicated chest clips, looser installations or sloppy covers. Living in Florida, I particularly like the denim cover for my son's seat, as the natural fiber seems to breathe better; some carseat covers look so hot by comparison, and I know he used to sweat in his original infant seat. With another baby on the way, I had been researching infant seats. Considering all the complaints over other products and my confidence in the safety and comfort of Britax, I think I'll get a Britax Marathon for my older son (it goes up to 65 lbs) and use the Roundabout for our newest. Every parent has maybe 5 products they've bought for their child and absolutely swear by, and this has definitely been one of them. How reassuring to have that be true of a safety device you rely on every day!

I love this car seat. It is easy to install...both forward and rear facing. It's light-weight. It's easy to get my daughter in and out of. And my daughter is very comfortable in it. Looking back, however, I wish I would have purchased the marathon only because it goes up to 65 lbs. I bought this seat when my daughter was about 10 months and outgrew the baby-seat. She's now 2 1/2 and I'll have to purchase another seat pretty soon. We have really liked this product!

I love the Roundabout carseat. We have two -- one for each car. I did a lot of research before buying this carseat. Britax really went above my expectations.

* It is simple to install. I only read one review of someone having trouble installing it and I really don't know how it could be difficult. The first time it took us a while, but just because we wanted to make sure we were installing it correctly. I have moved it several times and it takes me less than 3 mintues to install.

* Once installed, it does not move an inch. We have used it both in the center of our SUV and on the side when we had to move it to fit another car seat. The tethers that go over the seatback are wonderful.

* It is constructed of solid material and it just feels safe. A lot of carseats I looked at felt very flimsy.

We love this car seat so much, I think we are going to get rid of our Graco infant car seat for baby #2 and get a Britax infant seat. We live in the Detroit metro area and I see lots of accidents on the freeways. I want to safest possible seat for my children.

I bought this car seat after checking out amazons reviews and consumer reports. The only concern I had was no one on Amazon mentioned whether this carseat was used with a newborn direct from the hospital. Well i took a chance, since I didn't want the added cost of buying the infant carrier seat. Our son was 7lbs when he was born and he came home in this carseat for the first time and he slept all the way. I did use the babies r us especially for baby head support as it has just a thin cloth in the back and wasnt bulky to hamper safety, I ok'ed it with thepolice officer who installed the car seat first though. You can use rolled up recieving blankets, but they didnt work the way I used them.
This car seat is extremly sturdy and very safe. I wont need to buy another seat till our son is 40 lbs, so this is a fantastic investment and worth every penny. One shouldn't skimp when it comes to the safety of their child.

My husband and I knew very little about carseats and early on in our research we kept hearing that Britax seats were the best. In the end we bought the Roundabout and we could not be happier! Our son grew too tall for his infant carrier at the ripe old age of 4 months so we needed a convertable seat for him earlier than anticipated. The Roundabout is plush and comfrotable, not to mention being one of the safest seats on the market. I drive a VW Jetta and the seat fits nicely in the middle. The rest of the backseat is tight but getting two more people in there is doable. We have a Graco Comfortsport in our other car and while our son likes both seats, there is a huge difference between the two. The Roundabout was fairly easy to install and it is easy to adjust the straps.

I love it and would but another in a heartbeat.
