Editorial Review
A good infant car seat should offer four key features: safe
design, comfort for the occupant, convenience for the parents, and a stylish
appearance. The Chesapeake model from Peg Pérego comes through on all counts. It
features a five-point harness system to keep young ones firmly in place, ample
padding all around, and an additional halo pad to cradle baby's head (perfect
for dozing off on long car trips). The seat is equipped with LATCH, a car seat
system mandated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that
requires points of anchorage on the top and bottom of the car seat base. Despite
its firm anchoring, this car seat also detaches easily for toting. It's
upholstered in a neutral gray fabric, and also sports a retractable canopy.

From the Manufacturer
The Peg Perego Primo Viaggio Latch Ready Base is the
ultimate in both safety and comfort. The "all new" totally redesigned LATCH
ready base offers a state of the art latching mechanism -instant "G" matic
attachment to Peg Perego stroller. This mechanism allows for simple, yet safe
installation or removal of the car seat from the car. The Primo Viaggio also
comes with an adjustable base and a built in leveler, to ensure that the seat is
in the proper installation angle. For added safety,

Best & Safest On The Market!,
March 21, 2004
We recently purchased this carrier to replace our old Graco carrier (used
with our first child). With that carrier, we were never fully satisfied with how
securely the car seat was anchored into our car (and we had it installed by our
state troopers). Also, our son's head was never held securely in place. With the
Primo Viaggio, the baby is as snug as a bug in a rug. As it is somewhat heavier
than other carriers, it does seem to be more secure (certainly more so than our
Graco carrier), and the HALO head supports really hold the baby's head in place.
As for the reviewers who are complaining about how quickly their children are
outgrowing the carrier, I am a bit bewlidered because, almost universally,
carriers hold children up to 20 lbs./26 inches. The growth rate of a child
couldn't have less to do with the performance of a car seat. In any event, we
are thrilled with the carrier and love that we can use it in both our Peg Perego
Pliko and Tender XL strollers.

THE BEST INFANT SEAT THERE IS
!!!, June 3, 2003
We have been using this seat for a year now (baby just turned one year) and
its finally time to move him to a infant/toddler car seat. We have been very
lucky with our baby to get such use out of this seat. He is actually still
within the weight limit. From the start this seat has been the best. This is our
third child so we been through quite a few and were never happy with them.
Bringing him home from the hospital was actually pretty easy in this seat. I
felt he was very safe on the ride home and felt that he was also very
comfortable. It was also very easy to get him situated in the seat and to hook
in in our truck. Our baby has really loved his seat from the start. He would
actually be sleeping in this seat before we even put him in the car. That made
those short few newborn months alot easier on all of us in the car. The seat is
also made out of a very nice material and is charcoal and light gray. We have
the matching perego atlantico stroller and the venezia carriage stroller and
this fits in both strollers perfect. Just take the seat out of the car and right
into the stroller. The baby stays asleep and the family can get some shopping
done. I have also taken the cover off about every 2 to 3 weeks to wash it and it
still looks new. The seat also fits great in shopping carts! That is very
important because some seats give you trouble. Overall, We feel this is the
safest and nicest looking seat out there and will miss using it. We look forward
to purchasing this seat again for our next baby! I hope this helped with your
decision . You and your baby will love it..... And Peg Perego Thank you, for
another safe beautiful baby product!!!!

Not crazy about it,
January 7, 2006
I purchased the infant seat with the venezia stroller because I liked how the
car seat just clicked easily into the stroller. It was very light and I liked
the color. However, I felt the seat was too narrow and the material was not
comfortable. I have a small baby and she still did not feel comfortable in it.
Like someone else stated, my baby was sweating by the time I took her out.
Another problem I had was the label on the inside ripped. I had to call the
manufacturer and order another seat cover. It wasn't a problem to get, but it
was only after 2 months of use. What gets me angry is the fact that for my next
baby I would like to get a different car seat, but what do I do with the Venezia
stroller which goes perfectly with it? Maybe I'll sell it on Ebay!!

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY,
January 6, 2006
This car seat was not worth the extra money. My son was just over 8 lbs when
born and had outgrown this seat by the time he was barely 4 months old. This
seat is very narrow and deep in comparision to other infant carseats. He also
was wet with sweat everytime I took him out of it (he only wore 100% cotton
clothing). The sun shade when retracted rests a couple of inches from the top of
the seat, instead of at the top of the seat, taking up head room. This seat is
just too expensive for such a short use. I would NOT advise anyone to purchase
this seat.

Very Safe, But Very Expensive,
January 6, 2006
We got this car seat to go with the Pliko P3 stroller. We liked the fact that
there were anchors in the seat of the stroller for the car seat to attach to,
rather than attaching to the tray like other strollers. We thought that this was
safer and would not cause the stroller to be top- heavy. We also loved the way
it would just snap in and out.
While our son was in this car seat, we felt that he was very safe. We liked how
the LATCH feature worked to secure the base and also the knob on the base to
adjust it to the right level. We have a Toyota 4 Runner and my parents have a
Honda CRV and Element and we had no problems adjusting the base to fit perfectly
in all of the vehicles. There was also a lot more padding in it which we thought
would 1. make him more comfortable and 2. make it safer.
However, by the time our son was 3 months old, at 17 pounds, we had to replace
it with a convertible car seat. He just wasn't comfortable and we could no
longer lift it. He was arching his back and fussing a lot. We went back to
Babies R Us and got the Evenflo Triumph DLX and he loves it.
Bottom Line:
We loved the car seat while we were using it. It seemed "cushy" and also stood
up to washing. It worked wonderfully with the Pliko stroller and latched onto it
securely.
It is very costly and from what I've seen, Graco's handle is cushier and the
seat seems to be a little wider which holds babies that are heavier. You also
cannot use this car seat without the base which means you either have to keep
moving the base from car to car or buy another base, which is pretty costly
also.
I don't regret buying this car seat, but I wish we had been able to use it
longer.

We loved it - He hated it,
January 5, 2006
This was a great car seat, very safe & extremely easy to install.
Unfortunately our son wasn't the biggest fan, he was a bigger baby & and grew
out of it very quickly. We had to buy a convertible seat when he was only 4
months old, not quite sure how a twenty pound baby could fit. If I would have
known how quickly he would grow out of it I would have started with the
convertible.
