Valuable inventions for today’s busy parents, car seat/carrier combinations, such as the Graco Snugride, enable Mom to move a sleeping baby from car to house (or vice versa) without having to wake him. An adjustable car seat base installs and remains in the car for convenience. The carrier snaps into the base and unclips by lifting the lever behind its top. A level indicator on the side ensures parents that the car seat is locked into its base at the correct angle. The car seat is equipped with a five-point harness with a two-piece chest clip to hold baby snugly inside. Harness slots at two different heights allow the seat to grow with baby. A built-in 180-degree adjustable canopy shades baby from behind or rotates forward to darken in front of his face while sleeping; however, it is not wide enough to cover both areas at once. The ergonomic handle offers a comfortable grip and rotates to an upright position for carrying (although it sometimes gets hung up on the canopy during rotation). Comfort features for baby include a machine-washable padded seat, cold weather boot, and head support in a feminine sage green color accented with coordinating green-and-white gingham and toile prints. This carrier is for newborns weighing up to 20 pounds and measuring 26 inches or less in height. --Cristina Vaamonde

The Graco Snugride is awesome! My husband, 9 month old daughter and I were just involved in a car accident. Our car rolled over and we landed upside down! Of course I couldn't think of anything else but getting to my baby, thinking of the worst that could possibly happen. Well, she was back there...smiling! She was hanging upside down, completely comfy and still strapped in. Nothing happened to her! I think the design and engineering of the Snugride is what kept her safe and sound.

We will definitely turn around and buy another one just like it. I haven't even thought of even looking at other brands!

out of 5 stars Great Car Seat, December 18, 2004

I really like this car seat. It is a pretty green and tan, not grey like the pictures. However I really like the colors and it is so soft and feels comfy! I have had the evenflo Portabout and the Evenflo Discovery and did not like them very much. THis seat has much better padding, looks nice, easy to use and is pretty light to lift. I won't get evenflo car seats again after using this one. My other daughter has a Graco Cargo and it wonderful as well!

out of 5 stars If it's a carrier you're looking for, this is the one!, January 2, 2006

All of Graco's Snug Ride infant seats are great and light weight. It is also very easy to take off the cover to clean. Looks great on the matching stroller. As a carrier it's great!
BUT If you are really just trying to buy a car seat and not really interested in the carrier part of it, then invest your money in a Britax Marathon which can hold your child from infant to toddler up to 65 lbs. I wish I had done that b/c I didn't really use the carrier feature on the snug ride. Now I have the Britax, I cold have saved myself $100 if I bought it first.

out of 5 stars Pretty Pattern, December 30, 2005

I love the look of the Windsor pattern--I have both the carseat and stroller. After having two boys and dark/navy blue colored travel system, we opted for this beautiful sage colored design for our baby girl. The color and print are perfect for us. At first, I was worried that being light colored it would get dirty fairly easily--that hasn't been the case for us. She is now 2 months old and I am really loving this carseat. I love how easy it is to attach to and remove from the base. I can't say that much for my boys' carseats (they had the Cosco Rock n Roll Travel System--granted my first born just turned 8 years old this month--but still this one is so much more easy and convenient to use). I have the base installed (latched) in my van and it barely moves.

I love this carseat for a lot of reasons--I love the pattern first of all. I love the boot and the head support--I am still using the head support--she is now 2 months old and starting to hold her head more so I think I will be able to remove it soon and give her more room and keep her cooler. I do agree with some of the reviews--this carseat does get heavier--it wasn't bad for me at first because my baby was born at 7 lbs. 10 oz., but now she is 13-1/2 lbs and it is starting to feel heavier to carry around, but I can live with that because it is so convenient and I don't have to wake her up every time.

The one thing I am not to thrilled about is the handle. It gets stuck and a little too stiff to move up and down. It has gotten easier over time. But I still give it 5 stars because I checked a whole lot of infant carseats and this is still the one I would choose over and over. I believe the Graco SnugRide infant carseat is the best for its quality and convenience, not to mention the beautiful Windsor pattern. I know I will not be able to use this long and will eventually move on to the Britax Marathon Ashley Pattern. But it is worth using this for the first 4-6 months because of the convenience and not having to get her up every time. Plus it works perfectly with the matching stroller. This carseat is perfect for us.

out of 5 stars Having serious regrets about buying this seat, December 28, 2005

Reviewer:   third time mom (Naperville, IL United States)

The Snugride (I have a different pattern) is the third infant seat I've owned and used (new one for each child). I am horribly disappointed in Graco's design. The problem with this seat is that the straps are just too short. My baby has plenty of room to physically fit in the seat but the straps just *barely* fit around him when I moved them to their higher holes. My son is not a big boy. At 4 months old, 25" and 14 lbs 8oz he is firmly in the 50%-tiles. My previous Graco infant seats fit my daugthers much, much longer. Now I've got another inch to go? No 5 month old can sit well enough to ride comfortably in a grocery shopping cart. Moreover, whereas the specifications on this website say "up to 26" or 20lbs", the sticker on the carseat itself say "up to 29" or 22 lbs". The people at Graco say to go with what's listed on the carseat itself but there is no way a 29" baby will fit inside those straps. It's JUST the straps, otherwise there would be room. To clarify, I'm not using this with any in-seat bunting nor is my baby wearing a snowsuit, neither of which Graco recommends you use in conjunction with this seat.

If you're okay with using an infant seat for just 5 or 6 months (and that's for an "average sized" baby) this might be the seat for you. Otherwise keep looking. Irregardless to the strap issue, I have to agree with other posters that the snugride doesn't fit any of my grocery store shopping carts well either. TO click it into place would tip the baby way far back. The snugride model I own (Mayfair, with the Gracopedic foam) comes with useless infant "head supports" which look very cozy but push a newborn too far forward to be of much use.

We just received this carseat for our newborn and couldn't be happier with it. Super soft fabrics, sturdy design, and an unbeatable safety harness make this our favorite pick for carseats. Snaps in and out of base easily too! This is a great pick!
